The Anglo-Dutch APX Group is Europe's premier provider of power and gas exchanges for the wholesale markets. APX Group’s mission is to make markets work by leading the development of efficient, integrated and robust energy markets in Europe.
APX facilitates an efficient, transparent and secure electronic trading environment with exchange trading, central clearing & settlement and data distribution services. The Group provides market data and a range of indices for use (as benchmarks) by traders, energy suppliers and energy-intensive industries.
The Group comprises of: APX Commodities Ltd. is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority housing APX-ENDEX and APX Gas UK which provide cleared markets for power and gas in the UK; APX Power NL, the Dutch auction-style power exchange; and APX Gas ZEE and APX Gas NL.
In addition, APX is shareholder and service provider of Belpex, the Belgian power exchange and played a pioneering role in the successful establishment of trilateral market coupling between Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
APX also provides third-party services to the Climex Alliance for the clearing and settlement of Carbon Spot Trading on the Climex platform.
Established in 1999, APX has over 200 Memberships from 15 countries. APX Group operates from offices in Amsterdam (headquarters), London and Nottingham.
Product and Services
Spot and Prompt Market:
APX-ENDEX runs an anonymous spot market providing integrated
trading, clearing and notification for a range of contracts from
half hourly to weekly contracts.
Forward Market:
APX-ENDEX provides an anonymous electronic trading platform,
clearing services in conjunction with LCH.Clearnet, and notification
for UK power forwards including season, quarterly and monthly contracts.
APX-ENDEX Spot Carbon Contract:
APX-ENDEX offers clearing services for the APX-ENDEX Spot
Carbon contract and is part of the Climex Alliance. The Climex Alliance
provides a single pan-European Spot Carbon Exchange for the trading
of Carbon Emissions Certificates within the EU’s Emissions
Trading Scheme. The cleared spot carbon contract is traded over
the Climex platform and cleared by APX-ENDEX for trading members
choosing a UK based clearing counterparty. The contract may also
be traded OTC and given up to APX-ENDEX through Climex for clearing.
APX-ENDEX Indices
In addition to providing a marketplace, APX-ENDEX also provides
significant market data and indices to a wide range of participants
and other industry stakeholders.
