WMBA Limited has today been approved as an administrator under the EU Benchmarks Regulation (BMR)

The European Venues and Intermediaries Association (EVIA) is pleased to announce that its financial data utility, WMBA Limited, has today been approved as an administrator under the EU Benchmarks Regulation (BMR).

WMBA Limited will now enter onto the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) Benchmarks Register in accordance with Article 36 of the BMR (https://www.esma.europa.eu/benchmarks-register).

Commenting on this Alexander McDonald, CEO EVIA and WMBA Limited said: “Having previously been a Specified Benchmark Administrator under the FCA, we are delighted to gain this EU authorisation and to be amongst the early entries onto the ESMA register. With the implementation of the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation (MiFIR), this attests to the high level of industry cooperation in order to enhance the transparency and effectiveness of the markets in which our member venues and intermediaries operate.”

WMBA Limited notes that its RONIA and EURONIA Benchmarks will now fall under the BMR, whilst its SONIA Benchmark is to be published by the Bank of England from 23 April 2018 and will therefore not come under this authorisation.
