LONDON ENERGY BROKERS' ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF NEW INDICES

Launch of UK NBP and European Power Indices

The London Energy Brokers’ Association has today announced that its market data division, LEBA Limited, will launch two new data sets to complement its existing suite of market enhancing indices.

From 3rd September 2018, LEBA Limited will produce UK Gas Indices (UK NBP) in addition to its current LEBA European Gas Indices, which includes the Zeebrugge Indices and hubs across continental Europe. The Indices, also referred to as LEBA NBP Indices, offer a comprehensive set of data points determined by including both physically delivered and financially settled Natural Gas Futures, giving market participants a unique view of daily trading activity.

LEBA Limited will also offer European Power Indices to complement the existing LEBA UK Power Indices. The Indices are determined by including both physically delivered and financially settled transactions across Germany, France, Spain, Holland, Belgium and Switzerland.

The LEBA NBP Indices and the LEBA European Power Indices comprise of day ahead, weekend and month ahead tenors and are volume weighted average prices (VWAP) of all trades transacted through LEBA members between 07:00 and 17:00 UK time.

Commenting on the announcement, Alex McDonald, CEO, LEBA, said, “We are pleased to be launching these new Indices which have been developed in collaboration with our broker members in response to increasing customer demand.”

In doing so, these Indices will help market participants to make better informed trading decisions and conduct thorough market analysis” added McDonald.
